Mindfulness is living in the now. It is about being fully engaged in whatever is happening around you and within you. Have you ever eaten a bar of chocolate and then suddenly noticed that it’s all gone and you hardly remember eating it? Or have you been on a car journey and realized when you reached your destination that you have no awareness of large parts of the drive. I have! Continue reading “What is Mindfulness?”
The things that matter to us have mattered to people in ancient times– How can we live meaningful lives? Can we achieve greater happiness? What is happiness, anyway? The first thinkers to pose these questions, and provide answers that literally changed the course of history are these ancient philosophers. Their insights tell us to: Think for yourself. Appreciate what you have. Be the person you want to be. Accept change. Be kind. We are all one. And much more!

Coco Chanel lived a truly spectacular life. She was raised in an orphanage, where the nuns taught her how to sew, and worked as a singer in Paris cafes before eventually turning to design. She revolutionised the way women dress. Comfort, ease, simplicity and elegance became the new expression of feminine beauty. She popularised the wearing of trousers, suits and other traditionally male garments and turned the fashion industry upside down. Her words are inspiring. Here are my favourite Coco Chanel quotes. Enjoy!

Emily Dickinson (1830 – 1886) was an American poet. She was born in Amherst, Massachusetts. She seldom left home, but loved writing letters to her friends. She often included poems in these letters. Only ten or so of her poems were published in her lifetime. After her death her sister Lavinia discovered almost eighteen hundred individual poems in Dickinson’s bedroom, some of them bound into booklets by the poet.
These quotes are taken from her poems – may they inspire you with their beauty and insight!
